PL RATE | Running Your First Quote: Home, Auto & Bundle

Overview

Momentum PL RATE uses a guided workflow to take you from the beginning of a personal lines application through returned estimated premiums. You can quote Home, Personal Auto, or a Home + Auto Bundle using information from an existing Momentum AMS client or by creating a new client during the quoting process.

Understanding the Quoting Workflow

PL RATE guides you through the application from top to bottom.

The general workflow includes:

Appetite → Insured → Property / Driver → Coverages → Quotes

The questions presented during the application are based on the type of personal lines quote you selected.

A current insured snapshot remains available throughout the workflow to help you review information as you complete the application.

Step 1: Select Your Quote Type

When beginning the quote, select the appropriate line:

  • Home
  • Auto
  • Home + Auto Bundle

Make this selection carefully before beginning the application.

Important: You cannot begin a Home-only quote and add Auto to it later in the workflow. If you need to quote both Home and Auto, select the Bundle option at the beginning and complete the full bundled workflow.

Step 2: Select an Existing Client or Create a New Client

Existing Client

For an existing Momentum AMS client, search for the client by last name.

Select the appropriate client to bring available information from Momentum AMS into the application.

Review all populated information for accuracy before continuing.

New Client

If the person is not already in Momentum AMS, select Create New.

Complete the application with the prospect's information.

When the full application is completed, the new prospect is pushed back into Momentum AMS.

Important: If you create a new client but stop before completing the application, the new prospect is not saved back to Momentum AMS. Complete the full workflow if you want the new prospect record created in the AMS.

Step 3: Complete the Application

Continue through the guided application and complete the questions for the selected line of business.

The questions will differ depending on whether you are quoting Home, Auto, or a Bundle.

Home Quotes

For Home quotes, pay particular attention to the roof year and roof update information.

Roof information is an important underwriting factor for many homeowners carriers, so confirm that the information is accurate before submitting the quote.

Personal Auto Quotes

For Auto quotes, carefully review the:

  • Named insured
  • Drivers
  • Vehicles

Third-party prefill may return drivers and vehicles associated with the address.

Confirm that the correct person is listed as the first named insured and add or remove drivers and vehicles as necessary.

Important: Make sure the correct individual is listed as the first named insured. Changing the first named insured and re-running the quote can affect the returned rate.

Step 4: Review Your Carriers

PL RATE displays carriers based on the credentials your agency has configured and the carriers available to write the selected business in that state.

Before submitting, review the carriers selected for the quote.

If there are carriers your agency does not write with for that state or risk, you can uncheck them to narrow the quote results.

Step 5: Submit the Quote

Once the application is complete and the appropriate carriers have been selected, submit the quote.

Quote results are typically returned in approximately 10–15 seconds.

Returned results are displayed with the lowest estimated premium at the top.

For Personal Auto, six-month premiums are normalized in the results to make premium comparisons consistent.

Step 6: Review the Results

Review the returned estimated premiums and available carrier results.

Remember that the premiums displayed in PL RATE are estimates, not final bindable premiums.

Important: Use Bridge to Carrier when you are ready to continue with a carrier. The information entered in PL RATE is carried into the carrier's portal, where you can refine the quote and continue toward binding.

Quoting a Home + Auto Bundle

When quoting both Home and Auto:

  1. Select Home + Auto Bundle when beginning the quote.
  2. Complete the required Home information.
  3. Complete the required Auto information.
  4. Review the applicable carriers.
  5. Complete the full workflow.
  6. Review the estimated quote results returned at the end.

Starting with the Bundle option ensures PL RATE follows the appropriate workflow for both lines.

Best Practices

  • Choose the correct quote type before starting. Home, Auto, and Bundle follow different application paths.
  • Use existing AMS records whenever possible. This allows available client information to populate the application.
  • Complete new-client applications. A new prospect is pushed to Momentum AMS only after the full application is completed.
  • Verify roof information on Home quotes. Roof year and updates are important underwriting information.
  • Review the first named insured on Auto quotes. Make sure the appropriate person is listed before submitting.
  • Review drivers and vehicles. Add or remove information returned through prefill as needed.
  • Select only the carriers you want to quote. Uncheck carriers that are not appropriate for the submission.
  • Treat returned premiums as estimates. Bridge to the carrier to refine the quote and obtain bindable terms.

Summary

Momentum PL RATE provides a guided workflow for quoting Home, Personal Auto, and Home + Auto Bundles.

Start by selecting the correct quote type, use an existing Momentum AMS client or create a new prospect, complete the application, select the appropriate carriers, and submit the quote. Estimated premiums are generally returned within seconds and can then be reviewed before using Bridge to Carrier to continue the quoting and binding process.
