Some insurance groups — such as Travelers, Progressive, or Safeco — operate multiple writing companies under the same parent brand. In Momentum AMS, you can group these related carriers under a Parent Carrier record.
This setup makes it easier to:
- Run commission reports that combine all related writing carriers.
- Generate policy reports without having to filter each writing company separately.
- Track retention across all carriers in the group.
1️⃣ Create a Parent Carrier Record
A Parent Carrier is essentially a “shell” company in Momentum AMS used for grouping purposes.
Go to Contacts > Carriers.
Click Add New.
Name – Enter the parent group name (e.g., Travelers Group, Progressive Group, Safeco Group).
Leave all other fields blank — no need to enter address, contact details, NAIC, etc.
Click Save.
2️⃣ Link Writing Carriers to the Parent
Once the Parent Carrier is created:
Open the Parent Carrier record.
Go to the General tab.
Locate the Writing Carriers section.
Select all the individual writing carriers that belong to this parent group.
Save your changes.
3️⃣ How Parent Carriers Work in Reports
Once carriers are linked to a parent:
Commission Reports will roll up results for all linked writing carriers when filtered by the parent.
Policy Reports can be run for the parent to include all associated carriers.
Retention Reports will combine retention data across the group.
4️⃣ Best Practices
Use clear naming for parent carriers (e.g., Travelers Group, not just Travelers).
Only use parent carriers for grouping — do not attach policies directly to the parent record.
Update writing carrier links if your agency adds or removes a carrier from the group.
Review parent carrier setups quarterly to ensure accuracy for reporting.
