When working in Momentum AMS, some workflows require you to reference or update more than one record at a time — for example, reviewing multiple insureds, updating several policies, or comparing reports.
Instead of navigating back and forth between screens, you can open multiple browser tabs to keep each record easily accessible and avoid losing your place.
When to Use Multiple Tabs
Opening multiple tabs is helpful when you need to:
Compare details between two insured records.
Update multiple policies without losing your place.
Keep a report open while editing related records.
Cross-reference information from different areas (e.g., Policies and Certificates).
Process carrier downloads while keeping other work open.
Answer client phone calls and look up information without closing the record you’re currently editing.
Handle service requests in one tab while reviewing related documents or tasks in another.
How to Open a Record in a New Tab
From a List View:
Locate the record in the list (e.g., Insureds, Policies, Certificates).
Right-click the record name or the Actions menu option.
Select "Open Link in New Tab" from your browser’s context menu.
From a Details Page:
If you want to keep the current record open, do not use the browser’s back button.
Use the navigation menu or a related link, and right-click → Open Link in New Tab to load the new record separately.
Best Practices
Name or reorder tabs – If your browser supports it, rename tabs or drag them into a logical sequence for your workflow.
Avoid duplicate edits – Be sure you’re working in the correct tab before saving changes.
Use for reference – Keep one tab for reviewing data and another for making edits to avoid overwriting work.
Close when done – Too many open tabs can slow your browser’s performance.
Example Scenarios
Renewals – Keep the Insured’s Details page open in one tab, and open each policy in its own tab to process renewals without losing access to the insured overview.
Carrier Downloads – Have the Carrier Downloads screen open in one tab, while checking and merging insured records in other tabs.
Client Calls – Keep the record you’re working on open, and open a new tab to quickly answer client questions without losing your place.
