Custom Fields in Momentum AMS allow your agency to capture additional information that isn’t part of the default system fields.
They are grouped into Panels, which act like containers for related fields — such as a specific application, form, or line of business section (e.g., Homeowners, Commercial Auto, Quote Intake Form).
Using panels keeps custom fields organized and ensures they appear where your staff expects them.
1️⃣ Access the Custom Fields Setup
In the left navigation menu, click Miscellaneous.
Select Agency Customization.
Scroll to the Custom Fields section.
2️⃣ Add a New Custom Field
Click Add New.
Complete the fields as shown on the edit screen:
Field | Description |
---|---|
Panel | The section or container where the field will appear (e.g., Homeowners Application, Commercial Auto Quote, Policy Change Form). Think of this as the “form” or “app” where the field belongs. |
Name | Internal name for the custom field (e.g., Roof Year, Lienholder Name). |
Description | Optional — explains the field’s purpose. |
Fields – Name | The label users will see on the screen. |
Fields – Description | Optional — instructions or guidance for how to fill in the field. |
Text | Select the data type for the field. Options include: |
Text – Freeform text entry.
Number – Numeric values only.
Currency – Currency-formatted numbers.
Percent – Percentage values.
Date – Date selector.
Date/Time – Date and time selector.
Yes/No – Boolean selection.
Checkbox – Single check option. |
Click Save.
3️⃣ Edit or Delete a Custom Field
Edit – Click the field name to change its panel, label, description, or data type.
Delete – Permanently remove the field (it will be removed from all records).
4️⃣ Viewing and Using Custom Fields
Once created:
Custom fields will display in the Panel you selected.
All panels can be found on the Insured’s Details Page under Insured Items.
To view the data, select the panel name and the custom field information will appear inside.
Custom fields can be filled out when creating or editing records, used in searches and reports, and even trigger automations in Momentum AC.
5️⃣ Best Practices
Create Panels that match your forms, applications, or LOB workflows.
Choose the correct data type to ensure clean and accurate reporting.
Use descriptions to provide instructions for complex fields.
Review custom fields periodically to ensure they’re still relevant.
