In Momentum AMS, Certificate Holders are managed at the agency level and added to an insured only when issuing a Certificate of Insurance (COI). These holders are not stored in the insured profile directly but are linked to the Master Certificate used during issuance.
You can edit a certificate holder globally, and you can archive and remove them from an insured’s certificate. This article also explains how to remove Additional Interests, which are handled separately and tied to specific policies.
✏️ How to Edit a Certificate Holder
Certificate Holders are shared across your agency and are stored in a central list.
Steps:
Go to Left Navigation → Contacts → Certificate Holders
Use the search bar to find the holder by name
Click the Actions and then Edit or click the pencil icon on the right for quick edits
Update any of the following:
Name / Company
Address
Phone / Email / Fax
Click Save
Changes apply to all future certificates issued with that holder.
How to Remove an Additional Interest (Not a Certificate Holder)
Additional Interests (e.g., Additional Insureds, Mortgagees, Loss Payees) are different from certificate holders — they are tied directly to a policy and managed separately.
To remove an Additional Interest:
Go to the Insured’s profile → Additional Interests tab
Locate the interest to remove
Click the Actions button to the left of the row
Select Archive
This removes the Additional Interest from active use on the policy but keeps a historical record for auditing and reporting.
Best Practices
Use clear, consistent naming for certificate holders to avoid duplicates
Only remove a holder if you're certain it is no longer required
Archive holders and interests instead of deleting when unsure
Regularly review Contacts → Certificate Holders for cleanup
