Merging Duplicate Carriers

Why Merge Carriers?

You should merge carrier profiles when you have two records for the same carrier entity. This often occurs due to slight variations in the carrier name (e.g., "Travelers Casualty Company" vs. "Travelers Casualty Co.") or accidental duplicate entries.

Merging vs. Creating a Parent-Child Relationship:

  • Merging: Use this option when you have two profiles representing the exact same carrier entity. This is typically identified by an identical NAIC number.
  • Parent-Child Relationship: Use this for related carriers under a single parent company. For example, Progressive Insurance might have various subsidiaries like Progressive Ohio, Progressive Hawaii, etc., each with its own NAIC number. By establishing a parent-child relationship, you can group these related carriers under a single parent entity for reporting purposes.

How to Merge Carriers:

  1. Navigate to the Carrier List:
    • Go to Contacts > Carriers.
  2. Select the Carrier to Merge:
    • Locate the duplicate carrier profile and click the Actions > Details button.
  3. Initiate the Merge:
    • Under the General tab, click the Merge Carriers button.
  4. Select the Duplicate Carrier:
    • From the dropdown menu next to "Carriers," choose the duplicate carrier profile you want to merge.
  5. Confirm the Merge:
    • Click the Merge button to complete the process.

By merging duplicate carrier profiles, you can maintain a clean and accurate carrier database in Momentum AMS, ensuring efficient data management and reporting.
