How to Import Additional Insureds Using Data Import

Importing Additional Insureds
Importing additional insureds in Momentum AMS follows the same process as importing agency data during onboarding, with one key difference: it requires two separate imports using the same file.

The Two-Step Import Process

  1. Step 1: Import Certificate Holders

    • First, import your certificate holders (the base records).

    • This creates the holder records in the system so they can be linked later.

  2. Step 2: Import Additional Insured Assignments

    • Using the same CSV file, run the import again but this time select Additional Insureds.

    • This links the certificate holder to the insured and policy, with the correct type of additional insured and description of operations.

Download the CSV Template

We’ve prepared a template you can use for importing Certificate Holders and Additional Insureds.

Download Additional Insured Import Template (CSV)

Included headers:

  • Holder Name

  • Address Line 1

  • Address Line 2

  • City

  • State

  • ZIP

  • Email

  • Phone

  • Insured Name

  • Policy Number

  • Additional Insured Type

  • Description of Operations

  • Loan Number (optional)

Use the same file for both imports:

  • First Import (Certificate Holders): Map only the holder details (name, address, contact).

  • Second Import (Additional Insureds): Map the insured, policy number, holder, type, and description.

Important Notes

  • Always run the Certificate Holder import first.

  • Both imports must be run separately, even though they use the same file.

  • The Description of Operations field prints directly on certificates—be clear and specific (e.g., “As required by written contract”).

  • Test with a small sample file before bulk importing.

Pro Tip:
Keep all data in one CSV file and save it as a template for future imports. This ensures consistency and reduces mapping errors.
