If you don’t see expected agent commission transactions when reconciling, it’s often because the Generate Agent Commissions process hasn’t been run after certain updates.
There are two prerequisites for the Generate Agent Commissions feature to work:
• The agent must be assigned to the policies.
• The agent must have an active commission rule.
The purpose of this feature is to create agent commission records for policies where agency commissions are already reconciled, but agents were assigned after reconciliation, or agent commission rules were added or changed.
Steps
Step 1: Access the Agency Commissions List
Go to Miscellaneous → Accounting Items → Reconciliations.
From the Actions menu, select Manually Select Agency Commissions.
Step 2: Filter for Reconciled Commissions
Enter the Commission Received Date Range that matches the period you are working on.
In Reconciliations Type, select Show Reconciled Commission Payments.
Apply any sort or filter options as needed (e.g., by carrier, MGA, or insured).
Click Search to generate the list.
Step 3: Select Policies
Review the generated list and check all policies that should have agent commissions generated.
Be sure each policy meets the two prerequisites:
Agent assigned to the policy.
Agent commission rule in place.
Step 4: Generate Agent Commissions
From the Actions menu (top right), select Generate Agent Commissions.
This creates the missing agent commission transactions for the selected policies.
Step 5: Complete the Process
If you are ready to reconcile agent commissions:
Go to Reconciling Agent Commissions and follow the reconciliation steps.
Best Practices
Always run Generate Agent Commissions if agents were assigned to policies after agency commissions were reconciled, or if agent commission rules were added/changed.
Confirm that commission rules are configured before attempting to generate commissions.
Use clear date filters to avoid generating unintended transactions.
Keep a consistent workflow: reconcile agency commissions → generate agent commissions (if needed) → reconcile agent commissions.
