Tags in Momentum AMS are a powerful way to organize, segment, and target your insureds for filtering, reporting, and automated workflows.
You can apply tags to both insureds and individual policies, and then use those tags to:
• Run advanced searches
• Trigger automation through Momentum AC or Momentum CRM
• Create marketing segments
• Power renewal campaigns or task creation
This article explains how to tag records, how to use advanced filtering logic, and how tags interact with automations.
Step-by-Step: Tagging an Insured or Policy
1️⃣ Locate the Record
Use the dynamic search bar or go to the Insureds or Policies list
Click into the insured or policy you want to tag
2️⃣ Add a Tag
In the insured or policy detail screen, click Actions in the upper right and select Apply Tags.
✅ Tagging an Insured
Useful for organizing clients into groups such as VIP customers or identifying monoline households.
These tags can later be used for filtering or for running targeted campaigns in Momentum CRM.
✅ Tagging a Policy
Useful for sorting policies for easier CSR assignment or tracking by coverage type.
How to Apply:
Begin typing in the tag field.
If the tag already exists, click to apply it from the dropdown list.

If the tag does not exist, it must be created first:
Go to Miscellaneous in the left navigation.
Click Agency Customization.
Select Tags and create the new tag.

Return to the insured or policy record and apply the tag.
3️⃣ Remove a Tag
Click the “X” next to any tag to remove it from that record
This removes the tag only from the selected record, not system-wide
Insured Tags vs. Policy Tags
| Tag Location | Use For | Example Tags |
|---|---|---|
| Insured Profile | Marketing, niche targeting, servicing | VIP, Spanish-Speaking, Bundle Opportunity |
| Policy Record | Line-specific workflows, billing alerts | Financed, New Business, Audit Pending |
Both types of tags can be used in filtering and AC triggers.
Filtering with Tag Logic
Momentum AMS allows advanced filtering logic using:
| Filter Type | Behavior |
|---|---|
AND | Shows records with all selected tags |
OR | Shows records with any of the selected tags |
NOT AND | Excludes records that have all of the selected tags |
NOT OR | Excludes records that have any of the selected tags |
You can access this under the Filters panel in the Insureds or Policies list. Look for the Tags section, then choose the logic mode before selecting your tags.
⚙️ Tags + Automation with Momentum AC or CRM
Tags can be used as triggers or conditions in Momentum AC or Momentum CRM to launch automated workflows, such as:
✅ Sending a welcome email when someone is tagged as
New Client✅ Launching a renewal campaign when an insured is tagged
Renewal – 60 Days✅ Creating tasks for CSRs when a policy is tagged
Audit Required✅ Triggering SMS reminders when a tag like
Missing Docsis applied
This makes tagging a critical tool for automating marketing, sales follow-ups, and servicing reminders.
Best Practices
Use consistent naming conventions (e.g.,
Home+Auto, nothomeautoorHomeAuto)Apply tags at both the insured and policy level for more granular automation
Avoid unnecessary duplication (e.g., don’t tag
VIPin both places unless both are needed for different automations)Create a standard Tagging Playbook for your team so everyone uses the same logic
